New Delhi: Chairman of Rajya Sabha M Venkaiiah Naidu on Wednesday strike while expressing “deep suffering” to the implementation of opposition parliamentarians at home on Tuesday, when several members have risen on the table where officers and reporters sit and one MP even throws files Official towards the chair.
Observing immediately after the house was re-installed, he equalized irregular events to “suspend”, reminding parliamentarians, journalists were considered “Sanctum Senforum” from the “temple” parliamentary.
“As the chairman of the house, I am afraid to visualize the implications and consequences of competitive blasphemy at our democratic temple,” he said.
The opposition MPS has created a commotion in protest against the decision to enable short-duration discussions on “agricultural problems and solutions” instead of discussing three agricultural bills they have demanded.
Naidu said the discussion allowed on Wednesday was registered as “agricultural problems and solutions” in line with the tradition of “motion notification” treated by chairs registered with all parts of the house.
He wondered how it could prevent members who raised problems about the agricultural sector, including three agricultural bills.
Requiring members who are difficult to regulate because they caused countless damage to the dignity and stature of the house, Naidu said he was “very depressed on it and so was the nation”.
He took the exception to several parliamentarians who filmed “blasphemy moments” – violating rules that did not allow the home process videography by members – and post them online.
Appealing to the collective conscience of this house “to seriously reflect on what had happened yesterday and explored the solution”, Naidu said that all the failures to do so “would certainly make our parliamentary democracy irrelevant”.
Responding to the objections raised by members of the opposition protest which was not shown by Rajya Sabha TV, Naidu said he did not mind this and wondered why they were not shown.
