New Delhi: Western Naval Command (WNC) Deputy Admiral R day Kumar will take over as the next naval head of Admiral Karambir Singh on November 30, the government announced on Tuesday.
Assigned to the Naval Executive Branch in January 1983, Deputy Laksamana Kumar has served in various command, staff and teaching appointments.
Among other warships, he had ordered a carrier INS Viraat aircraft carrier and the Ranvir Rudal Missil Guide and also served as the integrated chief of defense staff.
He has taken control of the Mumbai-based WNC, called a naval sword arm, in February this year.
The head of the Southern Naval Command Vice Admiral Anil Chawla retired on the same day as Admiral Karambir Singh.
