Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Monday said that the Punjab government led by Charanjit Minister Singh Channi’s Chairman is committed to ensuring a smooth and troublesome rice procurement in the ongoing season to facilitate farmers.
Deputy Commissioner, which reviewed the ongoing procurement of Paddy, said that the state government would lift every grain in a smooth and non-troublesome manner, during the ongoing procurement season.
He said that the district government had made a complicated arrangement to ensure that farmer harvest was appointed from the seed market immediately immediately added that farmers would not be allowed to face all kinds of problems when selling their products.
Sharma said that all the Magistrats and Head of Sub-Division of all procurement agencies had been asked to personally supervise the operation of rice procurement.
Deputy Commissioners said that the district government has so far bought rice 82726 metric tons (MT) of the grain market in this procurement season which began in 3.
October said that until now, the total 9996 MT Paddy had arrived at the market from 82726 MT has been purchased by various procurement agencies including Pungrain, Markefed, Punsup, Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and FCI.
He said that payment worth Rs 117.85 Crore has also been made for farmers, he added.
Deputy Commissioner said that around 17.53 lakh MT Paddy was expected to arrive at the grain market.
He said that 17.28 lakh paddy was bought in the district in the last procurement season.
He said that complicated arrangements made for rapid rapture of food grains from the grain market.
He also appealed to farmers to hold rice burning, which caused the main environmental hazard.
