Mill Shoals: Authorities in two countries are looking for an armed man who killed an East Illinois Deputy Wednesday morning and allegedly in the piracy of Missouri’s neighboring car a few hours later.
Wayne County Sheriff said at the Facebook post that Deputy Sean Riley responded to the driver’s help call on Interstate 64 near Mill Shoals around 5am.
Wednesday.
The second officer who arrived at the scene found Riley dead.
The representative squad car was then found abandoned at I-64.
The search for the suspect was extended to St Peters, Missouri, where the police believed in a man involved in the shooting and fast piracy after 7am on Wednesday at a Quiktrip convenience store was the same person who killed the representative.
Police spokesman St Peters Melissa Doss said in an email that “there was evidence in the quictrip scene, which showed the suspect was also involved in a series of crimes, which took place in Illinois early this morning”.
He refused to describe, citing an ongoing investigation.
St Peters police said the man went from a department store in a car which was later found near the Interstate 70 near O’Fallon, Missouri.
The suspect then stole a white pick-up truck, police said.
Missouri’s replacing victims were hospitalized with police injuries described as not threatening the lives.
