Mumbai: Former Chief Secretary and First Advisor Chief of Maharashtra Minister, Sitaram Kunte, on Tuesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for his statement in the money laundering case against Anil Deshmukh.
Kunte appeared in front of ED officials around 11am along with several government documents, which was likely to submit to ED officials.
Previously, Kunte did not appear after Red Summon because of his busy schedule.
ED is likely to question Kunte about the transfer and post police officers when Dishmukh holds a home portfolio.
Kunte then became an additional secretary (ACS) head and after that it was promoted to the position of secretary’s head.
He retired last Tuesday and was later appointed as the Principal Advisor to the Chairman of the Minister of Udhav Thackeray.
Previously, Ed had recorded the statement of the Deputy-Secretary of Home (Maharashtra) Kailash Gaikwad in this case.
Ed caught Deshmukh in the case of money laundering on November 2.
He is currently in the prison guard.
Ed was investigating money laundering cases based on FIR registered by the CBI who accused Deshmukh asking Waze to collect Rs 100 Crore every month from the bar in the city.
The agency also pursued allegations of corruption involved in the transfer and post of police officers based on a secret report at that time the Head of the State Intelligence Department Rashmi Shukla, who knocked on a telephone call that showed the Nexus between the broker and another last year.
Shukla handed over the report to the Director General of Police Subodh Jaiswal, who forwarded it to the Secretary of the Additional Chief (Houses) of Kunte to discuss this issue with the chairman of the Minister of Action.
But the government does not act on a report.
Then Shukla and Jaiswal chose to deputation of the central government.
