Mumbai: Former Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh on Thursday defended “failure” to appear before the law enforcement five times in a row in the case of money laundering.
In a brief and non-dated statement, Deshmukh said that the legal process was completed, he would remain present before ED and cooperate with the authorities.
“The special leave petition submitted by me has been accepted by the Supreme Court.
This will soon be heard.
The APEX court has given me permission to approach the High Court.
As a result, the new legal process has begun.
After the entire legal process ends, I myself will be present before ED .
I will expand full cooperation to Ed.
In all my political and social life, I have maintained a high tradition, “Dishmukh said.
Initially, Deshmukh stated that because of a pandemic, it was impossible for him to attend the Ed office.
He then offered to record his statement through video conferencing.
On August 16, the Supreme Court bench led by justice A M Khanvilkar refused Deshmukh’s request for temporary assistance from coercive action in money laundering.
But it gives him the freedom to find medicine under the code of a criminal procedure.
