Despite the prohibition of SC, acid is sold illegally in city shops

Gurgaon: Acid attack on a 21-year-old woman in Fazilpur in the Farrukhnagar area on Thursday once again put the spotlight on the availability of easy substances in local shops despite the command of the Supreme Court who collected illegally.
In 2013, the Top Court has been categorically determined that stores that sell acids need to get a license from the government and maintain a register to record the details of buyers and purchase goals.
However, in some local hardware stores and several grocery stores, sulfuric acid and chloride acid, often used in attacks, are being sold without regard to the guidelines.
A single liter bottle is usually charged RS 25-30.
While some shop owners said that they did not realize any limitations, others showed that there was a demand for acid for household cleaning work.
“We have to keep the Tezaab (hydrochloric acid) because many customers want it to clean the toilet or tiles.
I do not save the black Telasaab (sulfuric acid) because it is difficult to obtain.
Can be found in stores around industrial areas such as Manesar or semi-urban areas such as Sohna, “said hardware shop owner near Mianwali Colony.
Many residents often try to get acid through household staff.
“The shopkeeper will not give it (sour) to you.
But I can get it because it’s my daily job.
Using acid is the easiest way to clean the choking waterways or clean bathroom tiles and toilet chairs,” said the plumber in sector 15 .
Administration said the authorities carried out regular raids and books that were found guilty of unauthorized sales.
“The sale of over-the-counter acids is prohibited.
We will intensify the raids to find out whether there are stores that sell acids and take strict action against them,” said Deputy Commissioner Yash Garg.
Activists say that illegal acids must be made criminal acts.
They suggest that the mechanism must be applied to direct procurement for industrial purposes so that dangerous acid does not enter the market.
“It’s time for the government to begin to see acid attacks as a crime and legal crime formed to request serious criminal actions for unauthorized acid sales,” said Neha Mukherjee, Member, a network of human rights law.
Women’s development agencies say special campaigns are needed to be sensitive to shop owners and police not only to curb acid sales that have not taken place, but also to bring changes in behavior between men.
“We have time and once again take awareness of Suo Motu for such cases and ask the district government and the labor department to be strict when it comes to limiting the sale of freely sold acid, but nothing is followed.
This is a serious social problem with The effect of changing life and consequences
