Panaji: Even when the hospitality industry has not started a full-scale operation, starting next month, the Tourism Department will begin the process of updating the shack beach license.
“Because the hotel has begun to operate, we see no reason why the hut should not, even though some may not be due to economic madness,” said a tourism official.
During the season, nearly 350 huts were established along the coast of the state, with the majority of being along the Calangute beach belt, Baga and Candolim.
The tourist season in Goa began in October and was closed by May-End.
“Beach huts have been poorly done for the last two seasons and so we heard that some might not prepare huts for the upcoming season.
But we will start updating their licenses from next month.
Let them decide whether they want or not,” said the official Tourism.
Last season, because the second wave, all huts had closed the operation three months before the season could end, while the previous year they were forced to close earlier than usual because of the pandemic-related lock.
The cost of arranging the beach hut can be anything between Rs 2 Lakh to Rs 4 Lakh.
This fee can still be higher if Allottee chooses luxurious decorations.
Although the material used to organize huts can be reused, 10% wear cannot be avoided, the Allottee hut from Calangute said.
He said beach shack operators in Calangute, Candolim and Baga were trendsetter in terms of decoration.
“Some even have a mini ramps to accommodate fashion exhibits and ultra-music systems.
Some even rent DJs on certain days when expected footsteps will be more.
Naturally, operating costs soar,” said the owner Shack.
Naturally, when footsteps down, it’s not easy to maintain the operation, he said.
Last season, the government has provided a 50% discount for license fees to beach huts.
The beach hut has made this year’s request looking for relaxation in fees.
Tourism officials said the government had not yet decided their request.
