Devastating Tauktae pushes Amreli’s milk production by 30 Percent

Rajkot: reeling beneath the devastation brought on by cyclone Tauktae, the cows of Amreli district are now seeing a 30% decrease in milk yield by milch animals.
Breeders opine that the main reason for the decreased yield is that the condition of shock the critters are in because observing the catastrophic cyclone.
Deficiency of suitable drinking water and fodder in the wake of cyclone has resulted in decrease of milk production.
“The creatures do not supply milk when they’re in shock or stress.
The creatures often quit giving milk once they visit one out of their herd being hunted by wild animals like lions or leopards.
Following the cyclone the critters are in shock which has led to decrease in return,” Haresh Khuman, a cattle breeder in Mevasa village of Savarkundla taluka, stated.
Normally, 1 Steak provides 12 to 15 minutes of milk at daily but based on cattle breeders today some buffaloes are inventing 2 litres of milk whereas some others are not letting milking.
The cows owners seeking to attract the buffaloes from shock are washing them five-six times per day.
“We’re pampering them like kids,” Manu Dhakhda a farmer leader in Vadli village, stated.
The cows of Khambha, Rajula along with Jafrabad talukas that were affected throughout the cyclone are confronting this issue.
