New Delhi: Only technology developed accidentally will be available for Indian soldiers for full exploitation during the conflict and it is very important to reduce dependence on foreign technology, General Army General M M Naravane said on Monday.
The Indian Army is undergoing fast modernization and increasingly seeking customary solutions for its operational needs, he said in his speech at a FICCI industry event.
“I truly believe that during conflict, in situations such as war, only technology developed accidentally will be available to us for full exploitation in various domains,” he said.
Develop custom and local abilities to face security challenges that arise and reduce dependence on foreign technology, therefore, imperative, naravane mentioned.
“The army is especially suitable to lead this initiative.
India has an industrial basis that expandes and we believe that most of the core requirements of defense equipment can be realized at home,” he said.
The average cost of the acquisition is lower in the Indian army that allows major participation of MSMEs and start-ups, he said.
The government initiative from Atmanirbhar Bharat (India is relatively independent) during the economic downturn because it is given a fund needed for the domestic industry, he said.
