Mumbai: Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Monday said the BJP leader Devendra Fadnivis had to work with the head of Maharashtra Head Uddhav Thackeray to resolve the OBC quota problem in Maharashtra.
The Supreme Court recently climbed the quota after observing that seats intended for various communities should not exceed 50 percent of the total local body strength.
BJP has accused the MVA government not to present empirical data in the APEX court to show that the quota is needed in the local body.
Fadnavis recently said he could get the OBC quota again if he was given control of power in the state for four months, adding that he would stop politics if he failed to do it.
Talking about Fadnivis’s statement, Raut said BJP had to stop the previous CM from making such decisions because there was a shortage of good leaders in the country and the last stop would be unfair for Maharashtra.
His colleagues must persuade him against making such decisions.
The state government in the issue of the OBC and Fadnivan quota must work with the minister’s chairman in finding a solution.
We will not let Fadnavis take political sanyas, said Raut.
