Coimbatore: Officials of the Ministry of Agriculture has forbidden sales in six fertilizer sales centers in the district after they see irregularities.
Officials have conducted surprise checks at the fertilizer sales center on Friday to find out whether adequate fertilizer is provided for farmers and sold as per government to improve subsidized levels.
R Chithradevi, Director of Joint Ministry of Agriculture, has formed 12 teams to inspect various fertilizer sales centers in the district simultaneously.
“We want to check whether fertilizer is sold at a permanent subsidized price by the state government; the registry is maintained well according to the order of fertilizer control, 1985; details about stock availability and price lists are displayed correctly for farmers to see; and the details of the farmer’s aadhar cards are collected while selling Fertilizer according to the rules, “said an agriculture department official.
They also check whether the stock, mentioned in the registry, is actually available at the sales center.
The official said inspections were carried out throughout the country after charges of creating artificial requests and meeting fertilizer prices.
