Haveri: DGP Praveen Sood has instructed police officers not to organize celebrations such as birthdays, wedding commemoration and parties at the police station.
The department, he said, has received several complaints against police personnel inviting individuals with a criminal background to take part in the police’s birthday, marriage warnings, welcome and shipping events.
Photographs of such celebrations make their way to embarrassing social media departments.
DGP Sood, in its order, also directs police officers and staff to verify the anteceden of people or institutions before participating in events organized by them.
If police personnel want to organize the celebration, they must get permission from a higher party and it must be exclusively for departmental or staff officers.
There are no outsiders to be entertained.
Also, there is no money to be collected from the public for the celebration, said the sood.
“Discipline is most important because we need to be a model for the community.
The DGP has ordered the sidewalk to a personal celebration at the police station.
I will strictly implement this order in the Haveri district and avoid public involvement in the department function,” said Haveri SP Hanumantharaya.
