Ranchi: Jharkhand Police did not produce CPI (Maois) Politbiro members Prashant Bose alias Kishan Da, his wife Sheela Marandi, and two helpers, reportedly detained on Friday morning even on Saturdays.
DGP Niraj Sinha confirmed the arrest and said it was a “historic achievement” for state police.
Official direction of the operation that causes Bose’s arrest is likely to be held on Sunday.
The People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) appreciates the police operation without violence to capture Maoist ideologies but ask senior officers to obey the law and ensure that the basic rights of each prisoner are not compromised.
“Apart from the stature of the person being arrested, the police must ensure production before the court within 24 hours or they must be released,” said the State President Pucl Avinash Arwind.
He also condemned the delay in the production of people arrested.
“We hope that law enforcers obey the law and we, as a human rights defender, concerned about the right of everyone, both criminals,” he said.
Avinash emphasizes that anyone who is detained or detained even to be questioned must be produced before the judge’s court within 24 hours even if there is a formal arrest or not.
