DGPS ‘Meet discusses Maoist’s violence, counter-terror action; PM Modi sits throughout the session

Lucknow: Violence carried out by Maois, actions against the terror module and virtual world crime are some prominent problems at the DGPS conference here on Saturday which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, officials said.
Minister of Housecon Union Amit Shah, DGPS from all states and regions of Union, DGS Central Police Organizations and 350 other senior police officers attended the second day of the conference three days.
The prime minister sat through deliberations throughout the session on Saturday, an official said.
This conference discussed various problems, including cyber crime, counter-terrorism challenges, left wing extremism and trends that emerged in narcotics trade, the official said.
Since 2014, the Prime Minister has attracted interest in the Director General of Police Conference (DGPS).
In contrast to the previous symbolic presence, he made a point to attend all conference sessions and encourage free and informal discussions that provide the opportunity for police officials to directly give Prime Minister about the main police and internal security issues that affect the country, others said officials.
The conference, organized by the intelligence agency, is being held in a hybrid format.
DGPS State and other police organizations attended the conference physically here, while the remaining invitations participated in almost 37 different locations throughout the country.
As imagined by the Prime Minister, since 2014, the annual conference, which is usually held in Delhi, has been held outside Delhi with the exception of 2020 when the conference is held virtually.
This conference has been held in Guwahati in 2014, Dhordo, Rann Kutch in 2015, the National Police Academy, Hyderabad in 2016, BSF Academy, Presspur (Madhya Pradesh) in 2017, Kevadiya (Gujarat) in 2018 and Iiser, Pune in 2019 .
There are many changes in the format, topics discussed, resulting in meetings since 2014.
The number of business sessions and topics has increased significantly by focusing on increasing the police in community service.
Before 2014, the deliberations mostly focused on national security issues.
Since 2014, these conferences have a focus of national security twins and the issue of core police, including the prevention and detection of crime, community policing, law and order, enhancing the image of the police, etc.
Said Ministry of Home officials.
Previously, the conference was Delhi-centric with officers who only gathered for conferences.
Persirry in the same place for 2-3 days has served to build an increasing sense of unity among all cadres officers and organizations since 2014.
Direct interaction of brass to the police with the head of the government resulted in convergence of views on the important challenges faced by the state and the emergence of recommendations can be done, the official said.
In recent years, the topic was chosen after detailed discussions with the highest echelon of police services.
After being selected, several interactions in the presentation were held before the DGS committee to encourage participation and to include ideas from the field and from younger officers.
As a result, all presentations are now broad-based, intensive content and carrying a set of recommendations that can be followed up.
Since 2015, a detailed follow-up recommendation from the past conference is the norm and is the topic of the first business session, attended by the Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs.
Recommendations were carefully traced by the conference secretariat, led by the intelligence agency, with the help of Nodal United States officers.
The decisions carried out in the last several conferences caused significant policy changes to cause an increase in police in this country, including setting higher standards for effective police in rural and urban areas, and increased modern policing methods, based on smart parameters.
