Dhaba owner attacks couple for supporting another candidate in rural polls

Prayagraj: A couple sustained serious injuries when they were allegedly attacked by a dhaba owner and his supporters at village Majhil under the limits of Kunda Kotwali police station in Pratapgarh on Sunday afternoon.
Mohd Javed (42) and his wife Nasreen Bano were attacked by dhaba owner Mohd Adil and others when they were sitting inside their house.
According to police, Adil was peeved with the couple for supporting a rival candidate in the recent panchayat polls and had been threatening them of dire consequences.
The miscreants first attacked Javed and injured his wife when she made an abortive bid to save her husband.
Hearing their shrieks, the villagers rushed to the spot but the attackers managed to flee.
On being alerted, a team of Kunda police arrived at the spot and reportedly took the couple to a community health centre for treatment.
