Chennai: Madras High Court on Thursday refused to allow actor K Dhanush to withdraw the request submitted in 2015 looking for exemption from the entrance tax for the import of Rolls Royce Car from England.
HC plugged into the actor for failing to pay taxes even after this problem was resolved by the Supreme Court in 2018.
On July 13, the High Court made several bad comments on the Vijay actor while dismissing tax exemptions.
However, his order, had lived in the division bench in the court in the appeal transferred by Vijay.
On Thursday, when the request came to hear, advice to Dhanush told the court that the actor had paid 50% of taxes and now he is willing to pay the remaining.
He sought a court to allow him to withdraw a request.
Refused to allow it to withdrew, justice BC Subramaniam said the petition had been delayed since 2015.
“If your original intentions, you have to pay taxes at least after the Supreme Court resolves the problem in 2018.
But after the High Court registered this problem to pass the order, you tried to get through Self, “said the judge.
“You will drive a luxury car on the road that is placed using taxpayers.
Even milk vendors and daily wage payers pay taxes for every liter of gasoline they buy.
There are no such people approaching HC who are looking for liberation from these taxes.
At least I have not seen A request like that in my experience, “said Justice Subramaniam.
“There is no doubt that it is your right to move the court.
But you have to pay taxes and attract the petition at least after SC solve the problem in 2018,” added the court.
“Are you aware that there is an action called ‘Vexatious Litigation Action’.
Because such petitions, the High Court cannot distribute time to decide sincere problems,” said the judge.
The court then directed the commercial tax officer concerned to attend the court with a request for delayed tax paid by the actor at 2:00 p.m.
today.
“I will continue the order at that time,” said the judge and postponed the trial.
