New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Deputy Chancellor Najma Akhtar recently met the education Minister Union Dharmendra Pradhan who agreed to introduce the development of new skills and entrepreneurial training program at the university, according to a statement.
It was the first interaction of Akhtar with newly appointed ministers on issues relating to the University.
According to Akhtar, the minister was very aware of JMI’s activities and achievements in the past and said “some words that pushed the university’s contribution to teaching and research”.
“He really appreciated that JMI increased his position in NIRF (national institutional ranking framework) and other national and international rankings.
He also praised that the JMI Faculty was chosen for visitors’ awards for research and seven of the eight research fellowships of Prime Minister (PMRF.) Receiver from The University is a woman, who talks about an important role, the university plays in empowering female students, “he said in the statement.

VC said that at his request Pradhan, who was also the Minister of Skills and Entrepreneurship development, agreed to consider JMI as the center of skills development and entrepreneurial training program.
“This skill development program will be designed in consultation with prospective employers and in accordance with market needs.
Foreign language learning will also be part of the curriculum to improve student work prospects in India and abroad,” he added.
