With a pandemic that pose a strong threat, the Central Prison Authority in Dharwad has adopted a South Korean model for visitors to meet detainees, providing hi-tech facilities, safe and secure.
Until now, family members and friends of all detainees met in the 10x10TF room near the east gate.
This always causes density.
To protect inmates against Covid-19, the authorities decided to support the meeting area in the South Korean model.
RS 18 lakh repair costs.
New facilities, installed in the direction of the Supreme Court, including bulletproof glass between visitors and inmates, interks, scanners for checking visitor bags, and CCTV cameras to monitor the inmate area.
In addition, detailed prisoners entered the visitor’s room recorded by the machine.
Ma Marigouda, prison supervisor, said before, it was difficult for family members and inmates to communicate because all were collected in the same area.
Also, visitors are limited after a hit pandemic.
“So, we adopted this model.
At present, prisoners can talk to relatives and friends without fear of Covid-19 contracts.
High-tech scanner has been installed at the entrance to checking relatives,” Marigouda said.
The prison is currently accommodating around 500 inmates.
The prisoners were allowed to speak with relatives every 15 days between 11:00 and 13:00 to 6pm, Marigouda said.
