New Delhi: Former Indian Batsman Gautam Gambhir considers that the captain of Mahendra Singh Dhoni must promote himself to position number four as soon as Chennai Super Kings meets the requirements for the KO IPL stage.
CSK is currently placed in second place in a table with 14 points from nine matches.
Dhoni came out for bats at number six in both matches after the resumption of IPL in the UAE, scored 3 and 11 did not oppose Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively.
Gambir, who removes the Kolkata Knight driver to the title twice, said Dhoni needs to play in number four no matter whether the team chases or maintains a total.
“Ms.
Dhoni has to jasmine on no.4 once CSK qualifies for playoffs, regardless of whether you are chasing or hitting it first so you can spend time in the middle,” Gambir told Star Sports.
“I want to see that, hopefully it happens.
The best thing about a captain is that it is his own desire, he can bat any wherever he wants.” Dhoni has scored only 51 goals so far this season.
“Your no.3 and no.4 will not always score goals.
You have to be a little more.
The more running the score, it will continue to be easier,” said Gambir.
“You will be eligible for the playoffs but it should not happen that the responsibility falls on you, you lose the initial goal and you must come and score goals.” CSK will face the KKR on Sunday.
