Dibrugarh: Contractual Workers Association of Cracker Brahmaputra and Polymer Limited (BCPL) held a sitting demonstration to demand an increase in wages in Lepetkata here on Monday.
Protesters have been looking for a daily wage increase over the past few months, quoting an increase in living expenses and increasing inflation.
However, regardless of three meetings with BCPL management for this issue, no concensus can be achieved.
According to the Union, 2,300 contract workers were used in three units of BCPL.
“We paid minimum wages and since the last 10 years there has been no increase in our wages.
We have three meetings with BCPL management, but nothing happened.
There was another meeting on December 10.
We hope to find a concrete solution,” said the carrier of the Union office .
