Guwahati: Assamcm on Tuesday said more differences in the decadal growth rate of Muslim and Hindu populations in Assam, as reflected in the last two censuses, is “dangerous” which he wants to take along with intellectual and socio-political groups from the community minority in the plan Country for population control steps.
“According to the 2001 and 2011 census, the Muslim population in Assam grew constantly with a level of 29% while the Hindu growth rate dipped from 15% in the 2001 census to 10% in the census in 2011.
One can measure how dangerous the difference between 29% and 10% is.
it depends on people how they interpret these numbers, “Sarma said.
Sarma is optimistic that his call to ‘immigrant Muslims “for population control will be accepted by the community.” I don’t think Muslims react (for his call).
Both Aamsu factions (minority student agencies) have openly welcome it and realize that the Muslim population in Assam needs to be controlled.
We talk about their well-being.
So, I don’t think there will be resistance from them, “he said.” I have invited 150 intellectuals from the Muslim community for discussion about this in July.
I also held intensive discussions with Muslim socio-political groups.
I am sure they will support the state government because the population control is the only way to eradicate poverty and illiteracy in the Muslim community Assam, “Sarma added.
