DigiLocker documents have not become the norm for university receipts

UGC recently directs all higher education institutions (Heis) to receive a degree, mark other sheets and documents available in DigiLocker accounts as a valid document.
While many central universities have uploaded all degrees on the platform, they have not started taking acceptance based on the same documents.
Need to shift.
JN BALIYA, Head of Department, Study of Education and Communication of Mass & New Media, Central University of Jammu (CUJ), said, “National Academic Depository (NAD) is an online warehouse for academic awards (degrees and mark-sheets) submitted by Academic Institutions in the format Digital.
It facilitates students to get authentic documents and certificates in digital format directly from their original issuers anytime.

Safe! You have managed to throw your votelogin to see adding that academic institutions can register for themselves and upload their institutional academic awards in NAD through the NAD digiLocker portal.
BJ Rao, Deputy Chancellor, University of Hyderabad (UOH), said, “The emphasis on the shift from a hard copy of a digital locker is part of a larger plan to digitize education based on national education policy (NEP) 2020.”

Various advantages
“With this, students will be able to easily take advantage of several entries, out of the option under NEP to their chosen university,” Rao said.
Yogesh Singh, Deputy Chancellor, University of Delhi (DU), said, “There is no need to submit a hard copy, it will also minimize the need to travel to the university to enter.” There will also be a minimum possibility of the certificate of degree of fraud / caste delivered by candidates, he added.
Digital documents will also help recruiters, add Singh.
“In our current system, getting access to a hard-degree copy / certificate may be a time-consuming process.
There are cases where students lose jobs with private companies because of this delay.
With all documents available on one platform, the recruitment process will be more Fine, “he said.
Also, copies of difficult documents can be destroyed, which will not occur with a copy that is preserved digitally, adds Rao.
“This will allow students who might have to rest from their education for any reason to return to the process later,” he said.
Current process in place
At DU, the uploading process of degrees in DigiLocker began in 2021, said DS Rawat, Dean (exam).
“So far, the university has uploaded all degrees and marksheet for 2017.
The process uploading documents starts in 2018 and so on must be finished immediately,” he said.
At the same time, CBSE documents in DigiLocker were accepted to enter since 2019, said Pinim Sharma, Dean (reception), DU.
Baliya said that CUJ University had uploaded and received the crackdown / degree in the University’s portal ‘Samarth’ over the past few years.
“Previously, we asked students for a set of small documents.
Last year, because of a pandemic, students only have to upload the final certificate of qualification on the portal to facilitate the process,” he said.
DigiLocker NAD will then make the process more smoothly for all stakeholders, he added.
The University of Mumbai founded the National Academic Depository Cell on February 26, 2020.
Officials said that so far, cells have deposited and published 12.45,000 degrees in DigiLocker.
“Universities have not started taking entry based on the certificates available on the platform,” Tell the official.
For reception, UOH considers digital certificates.
However, a copy of the certificate that is difficult to verify after students come to campus, tell Rao.
“UOH has uploaded all of its certificates in NAD in 2019.
This university aims to be fully digital immediately, with the verification of the certificate shifting completely online.”
Moving forward
To ensure the level of playing levels for all students, steps need to be taken to ensure that all state boards begin to upload documents related online, Sharma said.
“Uploading digital documents on the platform is still difficult for students from rural areas.
In 2020 and 2021, we have begun to receive demands in through a digiLocker portal from students from several state boards.
For shifts to be truly successful, more efforts are needed country, “he said.
