KOLKATA: The online-offline argument has repeatedly surfaced, now for undergraduate admissions.
Together with the nation board, CBSE and CISCE cancelling the Class XII board examinations as a precaution from the book coronavirus, many universities are investigating the option of holding entry examinations.
Some private schools and associations are thinking about online entry examinations, while some others, largely state-run universities, state they could hold physical examinations, thinking about the digital divide amongst pupils.
“Entry tests couldn’t be held in Jadavpur University a year as a result of outbreak.
Online entrance checks were ruled out because most candidates wouldn’t have had access to high-speed net.
In 2019, the arts school admitted students according to entrance exam marks and Plus-II scores.
This formulation is very likely to be reintroduced since the admissions start in July,” explained an arts school teacher.

The online submission of application forms and penalties began by June 14 and will last until July 3.
“The entry tests will examine applicants’ competence in English and justification abilities.

It provides a level playing field for all candidates,” Fr Felix Raj explained.
MAKAUT will still continue to maintain online examinations for vocational programmes, such as BBA and BCA.
“Our applicants have access to online,” stated vice-chancellor, Saikat Maitra.
