Pune: Interior Minister Dilip Walse-Patil on Saturday praised the role of the prison department in a decongesting prison, opening a temporary prison and took a series of steps to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus among prisoners.
He reviewed the work carried out by the State Prison Department in carrying out the spread of the virus among prisoners who nested in 60 prisons during his first visit to the Jerawada Central Jail.
Additional Director General (prison) of Sunil Ramanand in the presentation before the minister said that the government helped prisoners in seeking early release from prison by giving them 90 day remission facilities, if they complete the education, and produce prisoners before the court through video conferencing.
Ramanand told TII, “We have initiated a proposal to build a new head office of the State Prison Department in Jerawada, Prison Jalan Arthur Dekongest by building multilevel prisons in Mankhurd, changing the criminal procedure code to produce prisoners through video conferencing before the court and building open colonies for women In Jerawada.
