Chennai: The number of new Covid-19 cases in this country has declined since August 12.
The state reported 1,604 new infections on Monday, took the country case at 26.02 lakh.
Of the 25.48 lakh people who had recovered from infection so far, 1,863 people were sent home on Monday.
There were 25 deaths on Monday and 18,887 people underwent treatment in hospitals or at home.
From new infections, 100 cases in children under 12 years old and 222 people aged 60 years and over.
While all districts reported cases below 200, only Coimbatore with 195, Chennai with 172 and Thanjavur with 104 cases reported by more than 100.
On August 22, Coimbatore had a 1.8% testing level while Chennai was 3%.
The three districts also reported four deaths respectively, maximum on Monday.
Four districts – Perambal and Ramanathapuram with three respectively, then and Virudhunagar with eight cases each recording of less than 10.
Eight Western districts have 7,262 people undergoing treatment, which is almost 38% of the total active case of the country.
It was followed by the Chennai region, which along with three neighboring districts, has 4,293 people under care.
Central region has 3,577 active cases, followed by the northern region with 2,395 and the southern district has 1,355 cases.
After an increase in new cases on August 11 with 1,964, Tamil Nadu has recorded a steady decline of 1,942 cases at 12 to 1,630 on August 22.
Twenty-six districts reported zero death on Monday.
