Disadvantages can stop drive vaccination in Odisha for 1 week

Bhubaneswar: After vaccimating the four-dose lakh record on Monday, Odisha may have to stop inoculation for a week because of the short supply of covishield.
Inoculation of people who have not received the first dose may not occur this month because the country has decided to give a priority to 28 lakh people the second dose will mature this month.
While stock available 6.14 lakh covishield will be used in two days, the state expects the next consignment to arrive only about July 15, meaning that it is left not to have stock for at least one week.
Worried on the scenario, Pradipta Kumar Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra on Tuesday wrote to the Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhusan looking for more vaccines in the next two days.
Mohapatra also asked the district to prioritize their second dose vaccination for this month.
The covishield allocation of 25.31 the country’s lakh dose in July was lower than 28.31 lakh needed to manage the second dose.
To ensure the second dose vaccination to those from, and manage the drive smoothly, the State Health Department has requested the center to allocate 15 additional lakhisheld doses this month.
Mohapatra, when contacted, said that while the country had the ability to vaccinate more than four lakh people, as did on Monday, the state must be slow because of the supply of crunch.
