Bhubaneswar: The course of disaster management will be taught as a mandatory subject during the first year of college in Odisha, said the Minister of Higher Education Arun Sahoo.
The move came after the Odisha government had decided on May 29 to include disasters and management of pandemic in high school and curriculum.

“Odisha State Education Council has prepared environmental studies and close-range disaster management for +3 (plus III) of the first year of art, science and trade this year as (a) mandatory subjects,” Minister of Higher Education Tweeted on Friday.
Sahoo said the course was prepared in accordance with the cabinet decision on May 29 and the main direction of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik.
The cabinet said that everyone in the state must be ready to face the challenges caused by disasters, such as cycling and a pandemic of Coronavirus.
