I really don’t understand anything about the situation, and I’m no one to pass decision, but watching a hero such as that struck my heart,” Malleswari, 45, told TOI.

Even the Sydney Games bronze medallist, said she’s understood Sushil as a humble individual, and it’s shocking for her to watch him being included in matters which have maligned his standing. “No matter Sushil has performed for the nation and his game; nobody will take that from him. Nobody will deny that using just two Olympic medals, he’s the largest individual athlete that the nation has witnessed. But then there’s a life following the awards, which the Olympians must direct attentively,” Malleswari stated.

“I’ve understood Sushil for several decades. We’ve educated as wrestlers and weightlifters’ training centers utilized to be near. I’ve always noticed him respectful , with a grinning face and folded hands once we met. He rolls my toes when he meets. So to find him like that now hurts more,” that the Khel Ratna receiver stated.

The celebrated athlete said as winning her decoration in 2000, she’s always felt a feeling of obligation and been really cautious about her behavior in people.

“It’s a reminder that the athletic icons need to be quite careful in their behaviour from the society. Should I compare with all the girls of my era, I’m responsible towards my behavior in front of different individuals, particularly kids. Individuals that I meet, see me and my own behaviour and find out from me, therefore I believe it’s the duty of the greatest athletes to demonstrate their very best side,” the former world champion said.
