AHMEDABAD: Gujarat’s four public-owned power distribution businesses have signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) to get 3,979 small distributed solar jobs with aggregate capacity of 2,500 MW, ” the authorities said on Saturday.
These small dispersed solar jobs, to be commissioned over the next 18 months, can bring in a cost of over Rs 10,000 crore from the nation for the growth of green energy and allied industries, it also said.
State energy ministry Saurabh Patel stated that the growth is a significant increase to the country’s commitment to market renewable energy.
Gujarat at 2019 advised the Policy for growth of Small-Scale Distributed Solar Projects, that intends to facilitate growth of solar jobs using dimension of 0.5 MW to 4 MW from the country’s distribution system.
“At a significant boost to the country’s dedication to promote the renewable energy industry, each of four DISCOMs of state-owned Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) have signed PPAs for 2500 MW solar energy below a special strategy for small scale dispersed solar energy jobs.
These jobs will be commissioned in 2022,” Patel explained.
This will offer a fillip to the nation’s mission of attaining 175 GW renewable energy goal by year 2022, and 450 GW annually 2030, according to the Prime Minister of India, it stated.
“Gujarat is the only state in the nation that has signed power purchase arrangements for such a huge capacity by such small distributed solar jobs,” Patel explained.
This may facilitate rapid evolution of solar jobs in regions having non-fertile territory, and encourage the involvement of investors and entrepreneurs, he explained.
During these solar jobs, over Rs 10,000 crore will be invested in green energy and its energy industry, ” he explained.
According to the 2019 coverage, the GUVNL had encouraged applications from people, business or body corporate or association with people, amalgamated societies, or artificial juridical person to establish such modest scale solar projects and provide power to the DISCOMS at significant cost of Rs 2.83 per device for a span of 25 decades.
State-owned DISCOMs, i.e.
PGVCL, UGVCL, MGVCL and DGVCL had obtained 12,404 software for aggregate ability of 7,959 MW solar electricity by small scale job developers in just three weeks despite problems faced because of COVID-19 pandemic, stated the launch.
The connectivity into the transmission system was allocated to all those candidates to a first come first served basis.
State’s energy operator, Gujarat Energy Regulatory Commission (GERC) had accepted the draft PPA and prolonged the date of registering it tariff of Rs 2.83/device up to May 31, 2021, at the petition of the programmers contemplating problems caused as a result of pandemic.
In an extremely brief time period of roughly two weeks i.e.
in April 1, 2021, to May 31, 2021, the DISCOMs signed 3,979 PPAs for aggregate solar power of 2480 MW, amid instant tide of Covid-19 and effect of strong cyclone Tauktae, that will be an unparalleled accomplishment.
These jobs will be commissioned over the next 18 months,” stated the release.
