Namakkal: The discriminatory wall allegedly in Muthukalipatti near the Ratipuram in Namakkal District was destroyed by officials on Friday, significantly on the birthday of Reformer E V R Periyar was celebrated as a day of social justice.
The villagers said that non-dalit named Paramasivam had violated the government land used as a route towards Ambedkar Nagar for several years.
A few years ago, Paramasivam built a 25-foot long wall blocking the road to Ambedkar Nagar.
Residents have other access roads, but it is played.
The population has demanded government authority to destroy the wall, expel encroachment from government land and restore the path.
However, no action was taken forced the villagers to lift the black flag over their homes last month.
They also filed new complaints with the District Administration, accusing local acting revenue officials holding gloves with paramasivam.
When the district administration initiated the investigation and found that the wall was built on government land, the authorities ordered the demolition of the structure.
A meeting was also done to relieve Dalit to draw a protest and paramasivam plan directed to destroy the wall itself.
But he refused to claim that he had ownership of the land.
So, the officials visited the place along with police protection and destroyed the structure.
“We are happy that the wall has been removed.
The fact that the wall was destroyed on the birthday of the birth of Periyar had made it more extraordinary,” M Samiraj, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, said.
Officials acknowledged that some of the walls were built on government land which were interrupted by paramasivam but said it could not be considered “untouched walls,” because the Dalits have other passphones.
In delays to destroy the wall, officials say that demolition can be done only after giving paramasivam due to notification and time to respond.
