Coimbatore: At least 1,732 people were tested positive for Covid-19 in the district on Saturday, because daily Kaseload increased 168 of 1,564 on Friday.
The active case had shot up to 7,480, even when 582 people recovered from infection that day.
The district also recorded Covid’s death on Saturday.
The deceased was a 95-year-old man who tested the positive virus on January 7.
Diabetes, he was treated at the Government General Hospital Rajiv Gandhi in Chennai.
He died of covid-19 pneumonia.
In neighboring Tirupur, 667 people were tested positive for Covid on Saturday, pushing active cases up to 2,479.
While 206 people recovered that day, 64-year-old people with hypertension and diabetes surrendered to the virus.
