Dist logs more than 200 Covid cases for the 2nd day

Coimbatore: District has reported more than 200 fresh Covid-19 cases on two consecutive days.
While 216 cases were reported on Thursday, 231 cases were recorded on Friday.
Health department officials connect marginal increase in new cases to crowd people during the celebration of two festivals – Raksha Bandhan and Onam.
Deputy Director of Health Services (DDHS) Coimbatore P Aruna said that they had not witnessed an increase in the number of clusters in the district in the past few days.
“However, there is a slight increase in isolated cases that add tally.
We will observe the trend and see if the case increases in the next few days,” he said.
The industrial unit in Vellamadai was sealed after six unit workers were tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday.
10,000 RS fine is also charged in the unit.
The G SS SSEANAN district collector has warned to violate SOPs with units.
He has instructed officials to strictly uphold Covid norms to drop cases in the coming days.
The district recorded five Covid deaths on Friday, two more than reported on Thursday, took the victim to 2,257.
A total of 238 patients returned home after treatment on Friday, left 2,107 active cases in this district.
Of the 2,35,273 infected so far, 2.30,909 has recovered.
In Tirupur, there was a slight decline in new cases in the district on Friday even because there was an increase in the number of deaths.
A total of 64 cases were reported on Friday against 73 on Thursday.
Three deaths were reported on Friday against 2 on Thursday.
So far, 927 people lost their lives because of Covid-19.
A total of 74 patients returned to leave 829 active cases in care.
From 9,0021 cases reported positively so far in the district, 8,8265 has recovered.
