New Delhi: The center on Monday said the distribution of free meadows under the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantra Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) has begun in seven states and around 14,700 tons have been given to beneficiaries so far.
About 70.6 lakh tons of fridagrain are distributed in the third phase of PMGKAY between May and June, he said.
In the portability facilities of the ration, the government said the four remaining countries – Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and West Bengal – are expected to come to the ship immediately.
PMGKay was first introduced in 2020 for eight months to provide assistance to 80 crore recipients covered by the National Food Security Law (NFSA) of Covid’s induced economic difficulties.
This scheme was reintroduced this year for the implementation of the third phase for two months to June and then extended until November under the fourth phase.
Free grains are provided under PMKkay and above the quota allocated with prices that are highly subsidized under NFSA to this beneficiaries.
Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said during the third phase of PMGKAY, “around 89 percent of the allocated meadows are distributed to beneficiaries.
The distribution was 94 percent in May and it must reach that level in a week or more.” There is a delay because countries follow different ration distribution cycles.
However, the distribution was taken in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Jharkhand, he said in a virtual press direction.
“We are a country insisting on distributing grains allocated under NFSA and PMGKAY separately,” he added.
It stated that the free grain distribution under the fourth phase PMGKAY had begun, Pandey said this scheme would continue until November and was a massive intervention by the government to support the people during a pandemic.
“The distribution of phase-IV foodgrains has begun in seven states and trade union areas.
And around 14,700 tons of meadows have been distributed until July 5,” said senior ministry senior officials.
This center has allocated 198.78 lakh tons of foodgrains for the July-November period under the scheme to all countries.
About 16 states / UT have started lifting seeds.
Nearly 4 lakh tons have been appointed by these countries until July 5.
Most countries have assured that the distribution will occur in a smooth manner, the official said.
The secretary said PMGKAY was implemented for eight months last year and this year will be for seven months.
Total expenditure for the implementation of PMGKAY for 15 months will be Rs 2.28,000 Crore.
Sharing details about the progress made in the implementation of the portability facility for the nation’s ration ‘one nation (onorc), Pandey said the government hopes the remaining four countries will soon rise.
“Delhi and the West Bengal Government will soon apply them.
The reason is …
that all Point of Saljel Electronic (EPO) machines are installed and testing is being carried out.
The two teams worked in close coordination,” he said.
In Chhattisgarh, the procurement of epist machines has begun.
About 4,000 machines are expected this month.
Whereas in Assam, there was a delay because the penetration of Aadhaar was very low around 36-38 percent, he added.
Already 32 states / UTS have enabled a portability facility for ration cards where beneficiaries can get their food quota from any country part.
According to the ministry, the average monthly portability transaction of 1.5 crore recorded an area of around 69 crore receivers.
