Coimbatore: A Oxygen Express carrying three tanks comprising 19.5 tonnes of liquid chemical oxygen attained Madukkarai railroad station here on Sunday. As per a statement in the Southern Railway, the railway which ferried the tanks out of Rourkela at Odisha, attained Madukkarai at 12.45pm. The tanks have been passed over to state authorities authorities inside half-an-hour. For this, 1,024.18 tonnes of liquid oxygen are sent into the nation. Aside from Madukkarai, oxygen was delivered to Tondiarpet channel in Chennai. “Till date, we’ve delivered 48.78 tonnes of liquid oxygen in Madukkarai with two trains, 785.87 tonnes in Tondiarpet with 13 trains, 79.31 tonnes in Vadipatti, 78.82 tonnes in Milavattan along with 31.4 tonnes in Tiruvallur channel,” the announcement said. “The trains are operating on top priority green corridor. Operational teams are functioning round-the-clock to make certain that oxygen reaches fastest possible time period.” TNN
