District recorded 55 active clusters within two weeks

Thiruvananthapuram: State capital has recorded a total of 55 clusters with more than 1,400 positive cases in the first two weeks so far.
More than 60% of active clusters detected have been in college and school.
Until now, no clusters have been reported in urban slums and tribal areas unlike the first and second waves when the group is mostly centered around these two areas.
With the reopening of educational institutions and normal returns, cluster formation is always dangerous, according to health officials.
As on Tuesday, there were 41 active clusters in the district which was 27 active clusters in schools (5) and universities (22), according to cluster analysis reports for the district.
At the Cotton Hill School, which is the largest cluster between five school groups, 34 students, two teachers and one non-teaching staff have been infected.
Government Secondary School, Vlatiyorkavu, has reported more infections among teachers than among students.
While five teachers were tested positively, two students were also reportedly infected in this school so far.
In vocational HSS for girls, Thiruvallom, other school clusters in the district, no child infected so far; Four teachers have been tested positively.
Of all institutional groups, college clusters have calculated nearly 1,000 positive cases with Thiruvananthapuram engineering colleges reporting nearly 300 cases so far.
About 42 cases have been contained and 254 active cases.
Only five among college clusters contained so far in the district.
Many college clusters have reported an average of 15-30 positive cases.
Three clusters in private hospitals are now active accounts for 86 cases in this district.
Clusters have also been detected in female hospitals and child care, Thycaud, state public health lab, regional cancer center (RCC), Sree Chitra Medical Institute.
RCC and SREE Chitra clusters cumulatively report more than 100 active cases in the district.
The government office also turned into a cluster in this district.
The State Council of Education and Education Training (SCERT) Poojapura reported 10 cases on Tuesday and the Directorate of Agriculture reported 19 cases so far.
About 15 clerical staff and four technical officers have been positively tested here and 150 contacts have been identified so far.
Many educational institutions have taken steps to empty hostels because clustering has been reported in many hostels in the city.
Among active clusters, the hostel has reported a large part of the case.
Hostels in Pallipuram, Kairavattom, Kunnukuzhy and Kaimanam have reported a cluster case.
About 91 students and nine faculties were tested positive at Sree Chitra College of Engineering as on Wednesday.
