Districts side by side with Kerala with high alerts for fear of bird flu

MySuru: Karnataka Regency which borders Kerala has begun to filter birds due to bird flu after being vigilant in neighboring countries.
Officials have begun to prepare for filtering poultry and other products that arrive from Kerala after the government there declare the Avian flu outbreak (H5N8) in Alappuzha and Kottayam.
Chamarajnagar, MySuru, Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada have been placed in with alert by the state and veterinary animal farming department.
Instructions have been given for all prevention and detention steps in bordering districts.
People also have to report bird deaths to veterinary officials and the nearest forest department.
Speaking to Toi, Dr.
S Suresh, Deputy Director of Chamarajanagar from Animal Animal Husbandry and Animal Sciences, said the director of his department’s joints had held a meeting with officials of all districts bordering and issued advisors on Saturday.
The department will deploy staff at the Moolehole checkpoint in the bandipur forest in Gundlupet Taluk, Bavali checkpoint in Mysuru District and Kutta, Makutta and others in discrinted poultry.
He said there was no need for people to panic.
“However, my department official will retain vigils on poultry vehicles who arrive from Kerala to the state at the checkpoint, in addition to taking all prevention and detention steps to avoid the spread,” he said.
