Diwali Bonanza: School children to get uniforms, bags

Lucknow: Wait for uniforms, shoes, socks, sweaters, and new school bags for 1.6 crores, the government’s school children above will end soon after the top government will officially launch the direct benefit (DBT) transfer scheme before Diwali.
Under the DBT scheme, the government will transfer money to purchase uniforms, sweaters, shoes, socks, and school bags to bank seeded bank accounts registered in schools managed by state governments from class 1 to 8 in all states.
Senior officials in the Ministry of Basic Education have asked for approval from the Chairman of the Yogi Adityanath Minister to launch the DBT scheme on October 30.
“Confirmation about the date is awaited from the CM office.
CM wants the money to be sent to the beneficiaries before Diwali.
We expect launch at the end of the month,” said an official.
In the first phase, 1.2 crore students from various districts above will benefit.
Officials said, the verification of the aadhar’s superior bank account from 1.2 crore parents had been carried out through the DBT mobile application.
The data is now uploaded on the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) after it will be transferred to the beneficiaries.
Verification exercises from 40,000 remaining students are taking place.
The latest data shows 4,166 schools throughout the country have even initiated verification work for the DBT scheme.
Aimed at eliminating intermediary and quality problems that erupted almost every year, the government up in March decided to introduce DBT for purchasing uniforms, sweaters, and shoe socks from the 2021-22 academic session.
So far, the Ministry of Education distributes grants to uniforms to schools and the School Management Committee (SMC) consisting of teacher principals, guardians, local education and teachers help in procurement.
Because the process is slow, students complain of uniform arrival or poor quality.
For remaining – shoes, socks, and sweaters, and bags, tenders are carried out at the district level.
