Chennai: There were no deaths related to firecrackers and no major fire accidents reported in Chennai on Diwali Day, on Thursday.
But around 20 people suffered small burns and were treated at the Kilpuk Medical College Hospital and several other government hospitals.
The fire control room that worked all the time received 169 calls depressed from all Tamil Nadu.
The control room at Egmore has the power of 30 personnel.
At least 10 firefighting personnel attend emergency calls at each shift.
Fire Personnel said they had received 56 pieces of colleagues from various parts of Chennai.
They included 16 complaints related to crackers.
Director of the Department of Fire and Rescue Services and Director General of Police appreciate the hard work and effort taken by firefighting personnel to prevent large fire accidents in the city and in the state.
