Ahmedabad: The city police tolerant of mask rules during the Diwali and New Year Festival, but with Covid-19 cases increased, the police had acted and intensified their encouragement to capture mask violators.
This is clearly seen with figures of cases of violations of masks shooting from 65 violations on New Year’s Day on November 5, up to 345 on Sundays more than five times high.
There was also a surge in Covid cases in the city of 20 cases at 5 to 37 on Saturday.
“On New Year’s Day, we spread awareness about wearing masks and not becoming tight so that only 65 cases were registered.
On Bhai Beej Day, we also showed a slightly soft approach and only fined 81 people, who were caught roaming without a mask,” said a man Police officer.
The officer said that the police intensified their journey from November 7 after the case of the mask was registered in three digits.
Mask violations showed that there was a tendency between the police not to order people during the festival and also in front of the poll.
According to city police figures, which they have on February 21 recorded only four people when the Civic Body poll was held.
This is the lowest figure so far because mask violations are introduced from June 24, 2020.
After that, the city reported a surge in Covid cases and deaths in March and April.
Apart from the poll, the mask violation declined during the Rath Yatra festival too.
