Diya-maker Muslims lit Hindus for generations

“The making of ground lights was handed over to me by the generation and today’s turnover was worth Rs 1 Crore every year,” Sumara told Toi.

Once a limited family company, this Muslim family settled in Jherda Desesa Taluka Village from Bansecha with the assistance of bank loans has established a small-scale unit in its village which employs 15 workers.
This clay lights turnover is very large while exports also increase.
Production is a non-stop business and throughout the year.
“I have 15 workers and production has been mechanical and walking throughout the year,” Sumara said, adding that the ground lights became 10 Paise each.
Today’s turnover has crossed Rs 1 Crore because it not only enjoys the local and domestic market, but demands a range throughout the world.
Sumara exported Diyas to America, Australia, England, Canada, France and other countries where Hindus had spread wings and turned on the spirit of diwali with traditional land lights on foreign land.
Much in Banaskatha who knew Sumara saw it as a sign of Hindu Muslim unity solely for its occupation to make clay lights most in need of every festival, especially diwali.
What attracts customers to Sumara clay lights in particular is that it is painted with pleasant colors by local entrepreneurs, who also lend their beauty aesthetically in decor while serving as a light source.
