New Delhi: Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Deputy Chairperson of Raghav Chadha on Sunday said the water utility has decided to move the Supreme Court, look for instructions to Haryana to release legitimate water parts.
He claimed that Haryana had held 120 million gallons of water per day (MGD) intended for Delhi and that raw water was sent back into Yamuna by neighboring countries in “all time”.
“Delhi has no water source itself.
It gets water from neighboring countries under legally binding agreements.
Some unprecedented incidents occurred this year …
Haryana has held back the Delhi water,” Chadha said.
The DJB has supplied 945 MGD of water to the citizens of the city this summer to request 1,150 mgd.
At present, Delhi has received 479 MGDs against 609 MGD from Haryana.
In addition, Delhi draws 90 mg of ground water and receives 250 mgd from the Ganga top canal.
With Haryana holding 120 mgD water, the river has truly dried up and operational capacity in various processing plants decreases by 40 to 50 percent, said Chadha.
He said the Chandrawal Water Treatment Factory (WTP) has operated at a capacity of 55 mgd to normal 90 mgd.
Similarly, Wazirabad WTP and Okhla WTP have operated at a capacity of 80 MGD and 12 MGDs each against normal 135 MGD and 20 MGD them.
The water supply has been hit in Central Delhi, South Delhi, West Delhi and the NDMC area where important institutions, including Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Supreme Court, the residence of the Prime Minister, the embassy is located, Chadha said.
“Delhi does not ask before Haryana or ask for help from it.
Capital demands anything that has been given under the agreement that is legally binding.
We will move the Supreme Court if the neighboring country fails to obey the mous (memorandum understanding),” Chadha said.
“We witnessed low water levels of all time in the Yamuna River as Delhi’s share of water detained by Haryana.
@Delhijalboard has decided to move the Supreme Court Hon’Ble against Haryana Govt looking for legitimate stock supplies by Hon’ble which has been determined by Hon’Ble.
SC in 1995, “he tweeted.
“The discharge of raw water through Yamuna by Haryana is at a low of all time The DJB Deputy Chairperson said, attaching images reduced by the water surface in the Wazirabad pool.
“There is a zero release of raw water in Yamuna from Haryana,” he said.
On Saturday, Chadha said the Haryana government was fully responsible for the water crisis in Delhi because it has supplied 120 MGD less water against the number prescribed legally.
