LONDON: It’s a business as usual for the top seed Novak Djokovic when Serbia dismantled the challenge of Cristian Garin Chile with a 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 victory to advance to Wimbledon’s last eight and keep his defense title intact majoring in grass.
The number one world, which won the last two men’s singles title on the well-maintained grass at the All England Club, will play the 50th quarter-finals when it faces the next good Fifth seed Russian Andrey Rublev or Hungary Marton Fuckovics.
Garin is 25 years old, 17th seed, has never played Djokovic on the grass before and soon realized that he had no resources to trouble Serbia in a sunbathing central court.
Djokovic won the first eight points and had never taken his feet from the pedal for one hour 48 minutes, dominating from the baseline and nets against Chile.
He lost only 13 points about his own service and broke his opponent five times to continue to follow the title of the 20th Grand Slam that would tie him with a big rival Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal for the largest men’s degree.
The sixth Wimbledon Cup on Sunday will also move 34-year-old players closer to the Golden Slam, with the Tokyo Olympics and U8 open to be played on his favorite hard field.
