Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada reported a surge in Covid-19, with cases reported on three college campuses on Sunday.
As many as 37 students were tested positive for the SARS-COV-2 virus, the largest single surge in the district after two months.
DR Jagadeesh District Supervision Officer told TII that the case reported from three active detention zones in paramedic districts, nursing and ayurveda college colleges.
“All newly reported cases today are students, which are the main and secondary contacts of those tested positively before.

Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra said that the district government had increased supervision, after the omicron variant detection of the virus.

The covid-19 test level is still around 8-9% in Kerala.
Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod District shared a border of 40 km, and the city of Mangaluru is only 10 km from Kasaragod.
There are more than 70 routes into Mangalaru from Kasaragod.
“We have made stronger supervision at all entry points, and RT-PCR negative reports are mandatory for everyone who enters Dakshina Kannada,” DC said.
