Guwahati: At least five people were shot dead and one injury when allegedly the militant of the National Liberation Army in the DNLA) Waylaid seven trucks, shot indiscriminately in them and then burned them in the district of Thursday night on Thursday night.
The trucks, carrying industrial raw materials, came from Umrangsu in Meghalaya when the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m.
in a place called Rangerbeel, about 200 km from Guwahati.
The police believed it could be a retaliation by the group after six cadres were killed in a meeting in May took place in the adjacent caratory area of Anglong.
DNLA was formed to seek laziness for people in the past but were not active until last year.
The police have so far restored five bodies from the place and massive operation have been launched by a team with Police Assam and Rifles Assam to arrest the perpetrators.
