Coimbatore: DMDK members protested the increase in gasoline and diesel prices in front of the Collectorate District in the city on Monday.
They said the increase in fuel prices led to inflation of all commodities in the district.
They also condemned the opening of Tasmac outlets when people were unable to buy needs.
The protest led by former tulur Mla P K Dhinakan saw around 30 people appearing in a black shirt, holding their party flag.
“With diesel prices shooting up to Rs 94.4 and gasoline to Rs 100 per liter, the price of all other commodities, including construction materials, essential kitchens such as vegetables and spices etc.
Without controlling the prices of these items, they have opened Tasmac outlets , “he said.” With a pandemic there is still there and there is no job, people cannot buy even their basic needs, “he added.
The protesters then submitted a petition to Revenue Officers Ramadurimurugan.
