New Delhi: In the first for DMRC, the electric feeder bus will start playing based on trials in the city starting August 12 to increase connectivity with the Delhi Metro network, officials said on Tuesday.
In a statement, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said it would introduce 100 e-bus feeders at the end of October gradually to provide a mile travel experience that was upgraded from 14 metro stations covering 10 routes to the public.
“The feeder electric bus was introduced for the first time in Delhi based on a trial by Delhi Metro from Thursday, where 25 low floor e-bus (24-seat bus) would plying on two routes,” DMRC said in a statement.
Only Delhi’s Metro passengers who have a Smart Metro Delhi card or Smart Metro DTC card will be allowed to utilize this e-bus service, officials said.
Commuter can use a smart card to pay for travel without cash because this bus will operate in a completely contactless way and will not have a conductor.
The entry and coming out will go through the rotating door on the bus using the Metro Smart Card, officials said.
Smart Metro cards have been used on DTC buses.
For buses starting from the Metro station, the entry of passengers will be allowed only from the station and the bus will stop only in the designated stop, officials said.
No passenger entries will be permitted in another termination on the route.
For the bus going to the metro station, the entry will be allowed in all cessation, but passengers will be allowed to go up to the metro station.
This is to ensure that only the original Metro passengers use this service.
Passengers will be allowed to enter from the front gate and come out of the rear gate of the bus, the statement said.
One route (MC-721) will come from Shastri Park Metro Station to the Gokulpuri Metro Station through Khajuri Chowk, which covers 10.3 km.
The other (ML-05) which covers 7.7 km will be from Shastri Park Metro Station for Mother Milk, DMRC said.
The tariff structure will be Rs 10 for zero to four km, Rs 15 for four to eight km; Rs 20 for eight to 12 km and Rs 25 for traveling beyond 12 km.
This bus-E is designed and equipped with a smart transportation system with CCTV and GPS facilities.
It also has an anti-skid locking system, anti-brake and will not move until all doors are closed.
The door also won’t approach the detection of any obstruction officials.
For different passengers and elderly, these buses are equipped with ramps and ports for wheelchairs.
For any emergency, this bus is also equipped with a panic button and stop the request button, the DMRC said.
For the maintenance and addition of this bus, special depots have also been arranged in Shastri Park and Majlis Park, along with the operational control center to monitor vehicles, officials said.
There are 2.5 MW electrical connection facilities to charge bus-e.
For routine cleaning, automatic washers have also been provided on the e-bus depot, he said.
