New Delhi: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has worked on the war to complete the 12.5km Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor from the Phase-IV project in 2022.
It wants to complete a 400 km of the network before reaching a 20-year history of operation.
However, the DMRC plan to join the coveted 400km club, which includes the Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Moscow and London system, has to wait until 2023.
Mangu Singh, told Toi the best effort to complete the corridor at the end of 2022 , delay in getting permission to fall trees and some engineering challenges have resulted in pushing the target to October 2023.
The Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor might be the smallest among the three DMRC phase corridors approved -IV project, but will boast technical achievement such as Viaduct “Double -Deck “with tracks at the upper level and how come below, and also the first DMRC cantilever bridge in Yamuna.
Other technical challenges will be the first time the use of “integrated portal”, which supports Viaduct and Flyover that runs parallel for almost half a kilometer.
Integrated “cum-cum-viaduct structure” integrated, along with vehicle underpass, is being built near Soorghat in North Delhi with an association with the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD).
PWD Flyover and Underpass vehicles are part of the high road proposed along the parallel Yamuna with a ring road between Wazirabad Flyover (signature bridge) and DND Flyway.
Singh said that work on Viaduct double-deck was running smoothly, but the challenges of engineering were relatively newer, regardless of the licenses awaited for tree logging, meaning the corridor would only be completed in 2023.
Environmental concerns also caused more time taken for Construction of two more approved IV phase corridors – the hally 29km Janakpuri West-RK Ashram extension magenta line (botanical garden-Janakpuri West) and independent silver line 20.2 km (aerocity-tuxlaqabad).
Last year, the DMRC had to shift the alignment of silver lines to avoid Qutub Minar following instructions from the Indian archaeological survey.
The detour produces an additional 3.4 km to the corridor.
As many as 5.2 km from the corridor fell in the Ridge and DMRC received the final final from the Ridge Management Board in July.
The project will produce 1,072 tree logging.
Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Corridor is the first phase-IV stretch where construction work began in December 2019.
In August 2020, the Ministry of Forestry stopped the DMRC from continuing to work in parts of 5.3km between Vikaspuri and Peeragarhi in the field that it violates forest conservation laws , 1980.
The department said the area was “forest who was considered” the previous permission was needed from him.
“Wherever the alignment goes into forested areas, there are different mechanisms and must go to the Supreme Court for the final permit.
Although the alignment of the West Ashram corridor Janakpuri does not pass through the forest, the same process is being followed.
The Central Empowerment Committee checks and submits the report to the Court Agung, “said Singh.
