New Delhi: In a big step towards the indigenicine technology involved in the Metro operation in the country, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday launched the first prototype made in India Simulator to train its drivers with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
DMRC and Bel signed a memorandum of understanding in September last year to develop a Driver Stock Rolling (RSDTS) training system, which will be useful for training Metro and train train drivers.
Durga Shanker Mishra, Housing Secretary and the Ministry of Urban Affairs and the Chairman of the DMRC, launched RSDS and also witnessed the demonstration of control and acquisition of data in the presence director of DMRC Mangu Singh and Senior Delhi Metro officials and other bells.
RSDTS “will also be used to evaluate driving skills from a labor operator, which is done regularly for safety considerations.
This will be the first universal universal train driving simulator that can be modified for any metro or train system,” Anuj Dayal said , Executive Director of Communication Company, DMRC.
Dayal said this product was imported by DMRC from foreign equipment manufacturers at high costs.
“Also, the designs available with DMRC are suitable for use with one type of stock rolling and signaling and line profile.
It is difficult and expensive to make any changes later,” he said.
He said the RSDT developed accidentally has facilities from the same core software to be used to create a different combination of rolling stock, signal and line profile by changing input data files, along with small hardware changes at the driving table, if needed.
“This will increase the flexibility of the training system and produce main cost savings for DMRC because the same system can be used for several different shares and routes.” Dayal said the training system would have superior features and would be able to be scaled to meet the requirements in the future.
The availability of easy driving simulators will help create a large collection of skilled workers, he added.
