Noida: A doctor was arrested from the gate of Lahori in New Delhi on Tuesday for allegedly deceiving the Noida family of Rs 8 Lakh on behalf of the kidney transplant.
Police said the defendant was identified as Bulland Akhtar, from Sector 19, Noida.
Ranvijay Singh, DCP, Noida, said that in May, a Ahmed Khan filed a complaint to the sector 20 police accused that a doctor took money from his family for a kidney transplant procedure but did not carry out operations.
Munish Chauhan, Sho, Sector 20, said the patient, a resident of sector 31, was taken to many hospitals, including AIIM in New Delhi, and most doctors recommend procedures.
A neighbor, Abdul Ghaffar, told the family about Akhtar and Ahmed, the patient’s brother met him.
“The doctor asked Rs 10 Lakh to carry out operations.
Then, Rs 8 Lakh was given to him through Ghaffar,” Chauhan said.
But the family said doctors did not arrange operations and patients died in January.
“When Ahmed asked for the money, the doctor refused to return it,” said a police officer.
Akhtar has been ordered under 420 (cheating), 406 (punishment for criminal violations of trust), 304 (punishment for guilty killings do not amount to murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy punishment) IPC.
He was produced in court and returned in the custody of the judiciary.
